This web site is an expression of personal freedom designed to interest, entertain and educate people interested in exploring the meaning and importance of freedom.  It is also a form of therapy as it gives me the opportunity to vent.  Features will include articles on current events, book and movie reviews, historical analysis, gun rights/control issues, education, politics and more.

Why the name?

Lest Darkness Fall is an excellent work of fantasy and historical fiction written by L. Sprague de Camp in 1939.  It tells the story of Martin Padway, a World War II era American who is struck by lightning and whisked back in time to 6th century Italy.  As a historian, Padway is aware that this is the time when the Roman Empire begins to give way to "barbarian" conquest and Western civilization falls into the Dark Ages.  Although he is only one man, Padway decides to do everything in his power to keep Europe from plunging into a period of oppression, misery, disease and suffering. Like Padway, I see an impending darkness slowly falling across the globe.  It comes in the form of diminished individual rights, an acceptance of mediocrity and a decline of decency and nobility.  I intend to do my part in educating others so that they will take action to protect freedom and greatness, lest darkness fall.
